Covenant Baptist Church Weekly Communication
4/7/19 – 4/14/19
“ON MISSION WITH CHRIST”
This Sunday, April 7, 2019 – Pastor Bill Walker – “Life In The Present Tense” – Isaiah 43:16-21
Pastoral Search Committee (PSC) Update
Just a reminder that there will be a congregational update meeting on April 7 following the service. At this time information about the candidate will be shared. Remember, American Baptist Churches of MI (ABC-MI) does not recommend that we share his name, church, nor exact location at this point. That information will be forthcoming via a letter the week between Easter and Candidate Weekend, April 27-28.
Please continue to pray for the Lord’s guidance as we move forward with the pastoral search process. We want to be open to His leading and act as one unified voice. We look to the Lord for His wisdom, discernment, and knowledge during these important times.
The Bible teaches us: “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) After two years serving as your transitional minster, I believe my season at Covenant has come to an end. I feel so blessed to have served as your interim pastor for this time period. My own faith has been enriched and deepened by our relationship. Chris and I so appreciate the friends and acts of kindness we have come to know. I cannot imagine another setting with so many blessings. I firmly believe in the Lord’s guiding hand for Covenant. You have an open door to the future; you serve a great God; you have great lay leadership and church staff. May God continue to bless, guide and provide for you all that you need to be faithful to God’s call in Christ.
My last Sunday will be May 19th. One of the many hats for the ABC-MI is to assist churches in the metro area find supply preaching. I have discussed with Ann Carrier my leaving and have consulted with both James Vinson and Ray Gimmi concerning Sunday worship. James Vinson will be available for pastoral emergencies and crises during the time between pastors.
In His Service,
Rev. Bill Walker
ANNUAL MEETING – APRIL 14TH
Reminder! - Covenant’s Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, April 14th following worship service. Please plan to attend.
National Day of Prayer – May 2
Thank you for joining us in prayer. This year, National Day of Prayer (NDP) – Love One Another is Thursday, May 2. On this day, there will be a public prayer for America. On April 28 Covenant Baptist Church will honor NDP on Sunday before and during worship service. Leading up to May 2, each Sunday, we will share a prayer. Following is this week’s prayer:
Maintain Your Life with God
O God enlighten my mind with your truth
In flame my heart with love
Inspire my will with courage
Enrich my life with service
Pardon what I have been, cleanse what I am, order what I shall be and thine shall be the glory
In the eternal salvation through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen

Hello Covenant Family!
As you know, my brother and I recently traveled to New York City on a mission trip to reach out to people experiencing homelessness and poverty. The trip was absolutely incredible! We got to witness God work in huge ways in our team and through our team. Chains of bondage were broken, lives were healed, and hearts were won for Jesus. It was the biggest blessing to be a part of. Jordan and I want to thank you all so much for your support and prayers that helped us get to NYC to love the lost and hurting. Throughout our whole lives, our Covenant Family has been a steady source of encouragement and love, and we couldn't be more grateful for all of you!
Blessings, Jaimie Bell
Good Family Update
“We rejoice that Christ is opening new outreach possibilities here in Debrecen. Recently, we met with several university students at a local restaurant. The students were from places such as Egypt, India, the Emirates, Nigeria, and Hungary. The discussion was focused on how Christianity is different from other world religions. Several Christians at the table shared their testimonies. They kindly and boldly shared why following Jesus was worth the risk even in the most difficult situations. We wholeheartedly agreed. This is the kind of courage we are seeing from Christians here as we begin new ministries through the Debrecen Baptist Church and Talent School. Our prayer is that these new ministries reach Hungarians who are seeking the hope of Christ in their lives. Following Jesus requires faith, but we can move with courage because God is always faithful.”
Pray that ministry pieces will come together just as the Lord leads.
Please pray that we will continue to learn the Hungarian language and that God will use our efforts.
Continue to pray for our kids. They are doing great here in Hungary but still face challenges.
Please pray that the window of opportunity to share the Gospel will remain open.”
Yours in Christ,
Jon and Amanda
